After playing 36 holes on Thursday, we were tired, sore and hungry.  The Potters were prepared.

Penny rustled up some marvelous guacamole to go with our chips and Coronas.  Soon all worries and cares were but memories.

Jim grilled some elk medallions that had been marinated in a mixture of Jack Daniels and other sumptuous ingredients.  They were incredibly tender and delicious.

Up early on Friday, Dale and I reprised our experience on Thursday by playing Dinosaur in the morning and Sidewinder in the afternoon.  Jim told us to bring a "trouble club" for use in the desert.  I think I used my trusty 7 iron [which was all banged up from hitting balls out of the rocky ditch along #2 at Apple Creek Country Club] more than any club in my bag except for my driver and putter.  We joined several of Jim and Penny's friends for dinner at the golf club.  A duo played guitar and sang on the veranda while we ate.  The weather was gorgeous the whole time we were in Arizona.

On Saturday morning, we played Sidewinder again before returning to the tundra.  We saw lots of cute little bunny rabbits on the course and an occasional roadrunner.

Penny tees off with the Flat Iron mesa looming in the background.

At the airport we saw these two white jets.  Jim said they are used by controversial Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio to transport illegal aliens back to Mexico.  Two flights a week are needed to do the job, Jim said.  Two hours and forty minutes after leaving the sunshine and desert, we were back in snowy North Dakota.  Come on, spring!  A big thank you goes to our superb host and hostess.
