You never know when you'll need to make use of a new skill. While Reed was home over Christmas vacation, Pam showed him how to cleanly open a bottle of champagne using a knife. Reed, always a gamer, gave it a try on our front porch New Year's Eve.

Preparing to strike a mighty blow.

Worked the first time!

Later, I put the boy to work assembling a glass-fronted dresser for Pam's sewing room.
Meanwhile, Meredith Vukelic [have to use her full name every once in a while so that those who search the net, using The Google or otherwise, are not immediately taken to an old web page that friends have found and tormented her about] returned to law school.

This is her apartment in Grand Forks. On the wall is her prized painting done by her cousin, Jenna Heinle. The "book table" includes Scott Turow's story of the life of a first year law student, "One L." It was a gift from Pam to me when we were dating.

Long-time friend Megan and Mere

We've had several frosty days this winter. This church is located on Bismarck's Main Avenue.
