The Vukelic Family Tree

My parents are Edward Vukelic and Helen Irene [Burwick] Vukelic.  Dad died in 1984 at the age of 62.

Dad is the baby in this photo shown with his father, Emil Vukelic, and mother, Tekla [Prawdzic].  Emil was born in a small town, Kosinj, Croatia and came to the United States as young man.  We visited the community in 2004 and 2005.

Mom came from a large Norwegian family.  The Burwick family, circa 1934. Top row: Karnes and Helen Irene [mom - age 11]. Middle row: Della, Geneva, Oliver, Florence, and Lena. Bottom row: Ole, Vernon, Bernice, and Hannah.  Hannah's birth name was Bjorndahl.  She was born in Bjorndalen, a valley a few miles east of Bergen, Norway.

My cousins live in the house where Hannah lived before coming to the United States.  The house has been remodeled and expanded but the foundation, more than 100 years old, is still solid.
