After checking into our room at the Plaza, we bummed around downtown for an hour or so before lining up to see The Rat Pack Tribute show. It featured impersonators of Dean Martin, Joey Bishop, Frank Sinatra, and Sammy Davis, Jr.
There have been several Frank Sinatra impersonators but the one we saw had to be the best. I think he is Brian DuPrey but he sounds like Frankie in his prime. Looks a little like him, too.
The Fremont Street Experience was a new one to me although it has been going on since 1995. The street has been closed between three blocks of casinos and shops. A metal canopy was built over the street with 12.5 million LEDs incorporated in it. The productions shown on it are phenomenal. We saw two of them: Don McLean's "American Pie" and a Tribute to Queen.
Note the canopy over the electric cowgirl in the background. Below is another shot of the canopy.
This photo gives you some perspective on the enormity of the "computer monitor." Click here for the Tribute to Queen, well worth your time IMHO.
Is there such a thing as having too much fun?
You could shop from an eclectic selection of items on Fremont Street.
This artist carved and molded faces of customers.
He was incredibly fast and masterful.
This woman did elaborate lettering on scrolls. She has drawn PAM.
We were up bright and early [3:30 a.m.], checked out and returned our rental van to the airport. The trip home was smooth and uneventful. Now we wait for the snow to melt on Apple Creek CC so we can spray it around there, too.
