Winter blahs
Normally, North Dakota is a frozen, white tundra in January. Not so, this year with temperatures over 50 degrees this week! There is barely any ground cover and friends inform us this is true all the way to the Rockies 500 miles west of here. So, I haven't done much outdoor photography lately.
I did manage to get to the Missouri River at Fort Yates around
sunrise last week (about 8:00 a.m., CST) for a decent photo of the nearly-frozen
river.
And I had the good fortune to catch the frosty trees in my neighbor's yard
before the sun melted them brown again.
North Dakotans have a sense of humor.
The folks in Garrison, North Dakota prove it with the signs on these water
towers.
Likewise, Rod and Kathy made me chuckle with this sign on their building in
Ryder, North Dakota (population 92).
I didn't check the price for an overnight stay.
It's a good day for reminiscing.
This photo was taken as Reed and I descended into the Grand Canyon last March.
The trip was well worth
the eight-mile trek.
